14 weeks pregnant: baby size, body changes and what to expect

At 14 weeks pregnant you are in the second trimester, with about 26 weeks to go until a 40-week due date. Weeks are counted from the first day of your last period, so this is roughly month 4 of pregnancy.

How big is your baby at 14 weeks?

Around week 14, your baby is often compared to a lemon. Fruit and vegetable comparisons are a friendly way to picture the size, not an exact measurement.

The second trimester covers weeks 14 to 27. Many people find it the more comfortable stretch, and baby movements are often first noticed around this time.

Your body at 14 weeks

Often the start of the 'easier' trimester. Nausea fades for many, and you may feel hungrier than before.

What is going on

Your womb now reaches above the pelvic bone, so you may feel a firmness low in the belly. Blood supply to the pelvis increases, which may raise your desire for intimacy for some.

What can help

Eat iron-rich foods and ask your doctor about iron and calcium supplements.
