7 weeks pregnant: baby size, body changes and what to expect

At 7 weeks pregnant you are in the first trimester, with about 33 weeks to go until a 40-week due date. Weeks are counted from the first day of your last period, so this is roughly month 2 of pregnancy.

How big is your baby at 7 weeks?

Around week 7, your baby is often compared to a blueberry. Fruit and vegetable comparisons are a friendly way to picture the size, not an exact measurement.

The first trimester runs to the end of week 13. It is when the baby's main organs and body systems start to form, and many people feel tired, queasy or both.

Your body at 7 weeks

Nausea, food aversions and strong cravings are common. Your waist may feel bloated, though there is no visible bump yet.

What is going on

Your womb is growing, though it is still deep in the pelvis. Food aversions and cravings are linked to hormones and a heightened sense of smell and taste.

What can help

Eat what you can tolerate and make up with healthier choices when you feel better. Ask your doctor if you cannot keep fluids down.
