10 weeks pregnant: baby size, body changes and what to expect

At 10 weeks pregnant you are in the first trimester, with about 30 weeks to go until a 40-week due date. Weeks are counted from the first day of your last period, so this is roughly month 3 of pregnancy.

How big is your baby at 10 weeks?

Around week 10, your baby is often compared to a strawberry. Fruit and vegetable comparisons are a friendly way to picture the size, not an exact measurement.

The first trimester runs to the end of week 13. It is when the baby's main organs and body systems start to form, and many people feel tired, queasy or both.

Your body at 10 weeks

Your blood volume is rising, so you may feel warm or get visible veins. Nausea may start to ease for some.

What is going on

Your heart is working harder, pumping more blood. More blood flow to the skin can make you feel warm and show veins on your chest and legs.

What can help

Dress in layers, drink water and avoid very hot baths.
